Who is writing ? About me.

If you’re here to learn about my professional background, feel free to scroll down a bit, as I’d like to start this post with a more personal introduction. I believe it’s more genuine—and perhaps, more interesting.

In our age of online content overload, I think it’s important to know a bit about the person behind the articles, especially since it can take quite a bit of searching just to find the correct answer to a simple question.

I genuinely care about people, and I think this is the main reason for my success. I’m incredibly grateful to all my clients who have placed their trust in me, many of whom have become dear friends over the years. Your belief has empowered me to go above and beyond, achieving what seemed impossible.

I was a young woman when I arrived in this unique city, Geneva, and felt a tremendous support from everyone I met along the way.

My (now) husband was worried I might feel lonely or homesick and signed me up for an intensive French course with Migros school, where I met my first friends, with whom I’m still in touch. (I might write a separate post later about language schools in Geneva.)

I also joined the American Women’s Club—what I believe is the best starting point for English-speaking expat women. This was my first real step into the world of real estate.

One day, a woman approached me and asked if I could accompany her to a real estate exhibition in Russia, as a translator. Although that experience didn’t end as planned, I’m grateful to her because it set me on my path in real estate.

Later on, I wanted to deepen my knowledge and took a course with USPI, which I highly recommend to anyone considering a real estate career. It provided clear information and the tools to get started.

Since then, I’ve had many incredible experiences and projects, and I’m endlessly thankful to everyone for believing in me—a young woman who, at the time, didn’t speak a word of French but somehow must have impressed you. :)

People say America is the land of opportunity. I don’t know much about America, but I firmly believe that Geneva is such a place. If you truly love what you do, you’ll always find clients here. People value hard work and are happy to recommend you. Geneva is a place where word-of-mouth truly matters, and I will surely be writing dedicated posts about Geneva, which holds a special place in my heart.

And now, a bit more factual information about my background.

I hold a Master’s degree in Public Administration, with a specialisation in International Affairs. Impressing my grandfather was always a goal of mine, and while I couldn’t see myself as a doctor or a lawyer (the two professions he most admired), I thought the next best thing was a career in public service.

I was determined to be independent, so I took on my first job while I was still studying. I remember my flatmate and me, painting our nails and listening to the radio one evening, when we heard an ad for one of the country’s largest mobile phone retailers recruiting.

I can vividly recall the interview, it was my very first. In a role play I had to sell a dual-SIM card, a very new concept at the time. Working in a mobile shop with a security guard at the door was a bit of a novelty back then, and to my surprise, I was quite good at sales—especially accessories, where we made the most commission. It was a busy time, juggling studies, work, and, of course, some fun (a lot :)), but looking back, it was one of the best times of my life.

After some time, I was offered a role at the head office, where I communicated key information from the CEO and CFO of the company to the retail staff and created motivational content for them, while also managing work schedules for retail teams across the country. I suppose my role had an HR focus.

Somewhat later, the CEO of that retail chain moved on to head a major commodities company and offered me a role in logistics there. I didn’t know much about logistics, but he was convinced it was close enough to what I had been doing. Not at all! But I couldn’t refuse, it was an amazing opportunity. Thankfully, with the internet already available, I learned as I went. Ultimately, I moved on to become a procurement manager in that company, which was another invaluable experience.

And then my journey crossed paths with Geneva—and its fascinating housing market.
